Northwest A&F University is located in Yangling, Shaanxi Province, the birthplace of Chinese farming civilization and a national-level agricultural high-tech industry demonstration zone. It is directly under the Ministry of Education and a key university constructed by the country's "985 Project" and "211 Project". It is one of the first batch of national "double first-class" construction universities. Its predecessor was the National Northwest Agriculture and Forestry College established in 1934.

Northwest A&F University has graduate schools and 28 colleges, with 2554 teachers and 36476 full-time students, and 14 disciplines rank among the top 1% of ESI in the world. The school adheres to the school motto of "honesty, simplicity, courage, and perseverance", promotes agricultural modernization and the development of agricultural science and education, and trains nearly 300,000 talents to society.
The school aims at the forefront of international science and technology and actively carries out basic research and applied technology research in agricultural applications.
